Design Firm Expects Annual Savings of More than $2 Million with Collaboration
Solution
As a 62-year-old design firm, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) understands the importance of having established processes for project communication and collaboration. Upon learning about Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, WATG decided to upgrade its Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 environment, develop a solution for department and project team portal sites, and adopt Microsoft Office Groove® 2007 for ad hoc and offline collaboration.
Working closely with DynTek, WATG established 65 department portals for sharing information about such specialties as sustainable architecture or spa design. WATG plans to use its upgraded environment to streamline processes and knowledge transfer, thereby making the firm more effective overall.
• Expected annual cost savings of U.S.$2,402,000. By automating many of its previously manual processes, WATG expects to realize significant savings.
• Ease of use. With its collaboration solution in place, WATG will no longer have as great a reliance on its IT staff for managing content.
• Improved knowledge sharing. Support for wikis and blogs makes it easier for employees to contribute their expertise to help educate others.
“SharePoint Server 2007 helps us reach beyond the regular limits of a mid-size organization. With such potential for integration and global collaboration, we’re excited about where it’s taking us.”

Virgin Megastores USA Turns Up the Volume with Unified Communications
To stay competitive in the constantly shifting entertainment market, Virgin Megastores USA relies on strong communications between its home office in Los Angeles and its stores throughout the country. The company wanted a unified communications environment where employees could easily go from voice to instant message to video conferencing without having to switch between different programs or having to worry about how much money a conference call would cost. Virgin Megastores began deploying a solution built on Microsoft® Office Communications Server 2007, enhancing its phone and conferencing abilities with Microsoft RoundTable™ and LG-Nortel IP Phone 8540.
Virgin Megastores expects an immediate savings of U.S.$50,000 a year by bringing conference calls in-house. The company has also gained flexible communications options without the incremental costs required by a competing solution.
DynTek’s professional services team aided Virgin Megastores in the project. DynTek is also a Cisco Gold Partner, making it a good fit for a project to implement a Microsoft voice and data solution in an environment with Cisco CallManager.
